Hungary is a country of culture, architecture, historical and natural attractions and - last but not least - gastronomy.

Sights in Budapest that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage:

• Heroes Square: the iconic square of Budapest with the Millennium Monument.

Budapest boasts many world-famous spas. The Gellért Baths enchant visitors with their neo-Renaissance interiors. The Széchenyi Baths are a favourite outdoor venue for water chess players and sauna enthusiasts. The Rudas Baths offer a panoramic view of the Danube, and inside visitors can enjoy a classic Turkish bath. (Entrance fees are 7500 HUF -15 000 HUF) Baths are not only places of relaxation and recreation, but also centres of healing and rehabilitation.

For families, the Zoo in the heart of Budapest and Liget Budapest are unmissable attractions.

Countryside in rural Hungary

 

The fabulous landscapes of rural Hungary are perfect for hikers and nature lovers. Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest freshwater lake, offers opportunities for swimming, sailing and other water sports. The small towns on the shores of Lake Balaton, such as Siófok, Balatonfüred and Keszthely, are excellent for relaxation and water sports.

Tihany is worth a full day visit, and the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany is not to be missed.

Hévíz has the largest natural warm-water lake in the world, suitable for swimming all year round.

In addition, there are many other spas and thermal springs in the country (e.g. Hajdúszoboszló, Thermal Park Egerszalók, Zalakaros)

 

The Hortobágy National Park is a popular destination for tourists. Here you can go hiking, bird watching, horse-drawn carriage riding and fishing. Visitors can also taste the local specialities in traditional shepherd restaurants.
